Cunard Line | Queen Mary 2 Ship Tour

She is one of the most iconic passenger ships of modern times and the last true ocean liner sailing the classic transatlantic passage from Southampton to New York and back. I have sailed the one and only RMS Queen Mary 2 a few times already and even though they say “some things cannot get better”, I found out during my latest visit to the queen in the port of Hamburg that they surely can. Having been remastered just a few months ago, QM2 returns into service with retouched interiors that once again reinforce her statement: You are not taking a cruise. You are about to make a journey. Los Angeles | A Day on the R.M.S. Queen Mary

For a ship geek like me it is unessential wherever it is at high seas or just in port, a ship is a ship and it does not lose any fascination to me just because it is fixed to the pier for the rest of the time being. Particularly, when it is a legend of transatlantic travel like the astonishing R.M.S. Queen Mary. Once one of the most popular luxury liners during the golden ages of ocean passages, she is now serving as a boutique hotel and floating museum, commemorating the glamour and style of long-lost times. Continue reading

Norwegian Cruise Line | MS Norwegian Jade Ship Tour after Refit 2017

With her summer deployment to the port of Hamburg, Norwegian Jade has returned this year to Northern Europe offering seven to twelve days cruises to Norway, Iceland and the British Isles. After an extensive dry dock in early 2017, the ship aims to bring the contemporary Norwegian Cruise Line style to the 2006 built vessel. Reason enough to take a look at what has changed since I had last cruised on her a few years ago and a great place to reunite with my great friends Steve and David during a short hop from Southampton to Hamburg. Continue reading

Costa Cruises | MS Costa Pacifica Ship Tour

Being currently the second largest vessel amongst the Costa Cruise ships, Costa Pacifica is called “The Ship of Music”. This is mainly due to the musically interior theme that the ship was designed in, but it also reflects in the fact that Pacifica holds an exclusive recording studio where passengers may record their own songs. She has also been dedicated a personal tune upon entering service. Discover her with this detailed interior view photo gallery. Continue reading

MS Excellence Princess | Dining Deluxe on the Rhine River

Food is one of the unquestionable temptations during a cruise and definitely one of the biggest success factors in the cruise industry. To me, it contributes massively to my well-being aboard and it is one of these things in life where a person´s passion and talent for his job as chef are unarguably measurable. And while the range of quality of onboard cooking can well differ from unspectacular to magnifique, I was more than happy to find out that Excellence Princess was lucky enough to have a chef that perfectly combined his talent, his passion for food and his motivation to strive for the best and who worked hard together with his team to deliver these high standards onto our plates. Continue reading

Mittelthurgau Travel | MS Excellence Princess Ship Tour

With an overall length of only 135 meters, Excellence Princess is actually one of the larger vessels floating on the European river network these days. Built in 2014, 186 passengers travel in luxurious outside cabins and junior suites in a highly familiar atmosphere, pampered with outstanding cuisine and first class service. I enjoyed a full week of Swiss hospitality on the Rhine River and I would most definitely go back onboard anytime. Continue reading

Celebrity EDGE | Modern Luxury Reloaded – First Impressions

So this is it: The ship that aims to change the way you experience your future “Modern Luxury” resort ship cruise experience: EDGE.  After the first steel-cut in November 2016 at the STX France shipyard in Saint Nazaire (read more about it here), Celebrity Cruises has officially launched the first images of its new flagship fleet member. And it does look different, I have to admit. But before going endlessly on, come along and take a look on what will await passengers from late 2018 on … Continue reading
