Fragrant Hills or Xiangshan Park is a public park and former imperial garden at the foot of the Western Hills in the Haidian District, about an hour Northwest by public transportation from downtown Beijing. It covers 160 ha and consists of a natural pine-cypress forest, hills with maple trees, smoke trees and persimmon trees, as well as landscaped areas with traditional architecture and cultural relics. The name derives from the park’s highest peak, Xianglu Feng (Incense Burner Peak), and it is a popular recreational spot for locals and visitors to enjoy panoramic views and hiking. Continue reading
Even though it is one of San Francisco´s most frequented Tourist destinations, Alamo Square with its world-famous Victorian mansions is definitely one of my favorite spots to head to on a sunny day. Continue reading
With a capacity of 5,300 passengers she is currently one of the biggest cruise ships afloat. And while being designed for the European mass cruise market, sailing onboard MSC Seaview proved to be quite a pleasant experience as we found out during our latest Mediterranean cruise in November 2018. It has been awhile since I had last written about food. Apologies for that! But good things will take a while, as we all know:). Speaking of heavenly delights, this time I would like to introduce to you a place in Stephen King´s birth state Maine, that does not only deliver “A 1”-quality in terms of seafood in general, but which is particularly popular for their speciality of the house: Portland´s Best Lobster Rolls! Being part of the exclusive A380-Group at my homebase Munich, it took just about two full years until I finally received my training in December 2018 on our beautiful A350 Thunderbird. The first plane, call sign D-AIXA, was delivered in December 2016 and began full operation on our Delhi route in February 2017. Until today, 12 A350´s are already in service with two more (D-AIXM and D-AIXN) joining the fleet end of March, respectively June 2019. The, for the time being, last jetliner (D-AIXO) is expected for November 2019. Completing the original order of 15 XWB-aircrafts.
Vacation time is the best time of the year. Particularly, because it is the only time of year that I get to share all those precious moments and experiences with the one person I love. 2018 has been a tough year, so both of us were in urgent need of relaxation and rebooting of our energy levels. And nothing soothes feeling worn-out and tired better than a good old Transatlantic cruise on the last ocean liner there is: RMS Queen Mary 2.
Being one of the world´s most popular Tourist destinations, after over eight years of absence, Singapore proved once again to be a shiny star amongst the Asian mega cities. Perfectly tidy, reaching for the sky and ever-changing as always. A great city for food, arts and culture, Singapore convinced me as a fantastic place of superlatives to be explored by foot, yet (and some of you might disagree with this) as modern and open as it positions itself, I was missing a bit of identity within the conglomeration of cultures. Apart from that, definitely a must see on your bucket list for future travels! Check out some of my personal favorites to discover while being out and about in the Lion City… Continue reading
Mexico is one of these colorful countries that bursts in history wherever you lay foot on. A visit to the impressive Museo Nacional de Antropología, nestled beautifully into the green lung of the city, Chapultepec Park, is a wonderful way to explore the country´s rich heritage presented in world-class architecture. And the best, admission is completely free on weekends! Continue reading
