Cape Town | Cafè Paradiso – A Breakfast Beautiful

Thanx to my dear co-worker Alex, I got to know a little jewel for all you breakfast lovers in the beautiful Garden neighborhood of Cape Town, just a few minutes by taxi or Uber from the CBD. Cafè Paradiso combines a picturesque location with gorgeous views of the Table mountain with an intimate restaurant experience and service straight from the heart.

As I seldomly get to South Africa (every second year), my knowledge of cosy little breakfast or dinner retreats is somehow limited in direct comparison to colleagues who come here annually, or even several times a year. So I was absolutely delighted to have an a pure foodie pro along this time.

Alex suggested Paradiso as a perfect brunch location with a beautifully set outdoor terrace, a tasteful breakfast menu (served until noon!) and its “on the way” location towards Klein Constantia, where we were heading afterwards for some wine tasting.

It truly is a little paradise hideaway away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Cape Town. Surrounded by pretty little wooden houses, Paradiso´s outdoor terrace makes you feel like dining in a private courtyard of a friend´s house rather than a public restaurant.

The food is always prepared to order and the service is warm and authentic. The first morning, I opted for the Avocado toast which came with feta cheese, olives and two poached eggs.

I was quite astonished, that the girls all went for the voluptuous breakfast pizza, which looked absolutely delicious. But which would have definitely asked too much of my stomach. My dish kept me well-fed the entire day until the evening.

The classic omelette, which I opted for during the second visit, came also in a very generous sized portion. It was stuffed with mozzarella cheese and I enjoyed a bit of smoked salmon on the side. A great start into the day!

It would be interesting to check this place out for dinner sometimes. While I can absolutely recommend Cafè Paradiso for breakfast, I personally mostly enjoyed its wonderful location and the romantic and secluded ambiance that was just perfect to share some quality time with whoever you wish to share it with.

A quiet paradise with delicious food served in a private enclave with prime views. I will come back for more. That is for sure!
