Want to stay downtown in one of Europe´s most thriving metropoles but not looking to spend a fortune? This centrally located boutique hotel might be the perfect choice for you. But don´t forget to bring ear plugs!
We stayed here before a cruise for just a night, but even if it was for a few nights more, the hotel´s location just a stone´s throw away from the La Rambla in the heart of the Centro Historico makes it a perfect spot to discover the city.
Lying pretty much two-thirds in between Placa de la Catalunya (this is where the buses from the airport stop) and Monument a Colom (close to the bus stop for the shuttle bus to the cruise terminals), Barcelona House awaits with a contemporary and modern design in a busy side street of La Rambla.
With only 57 rooms, the hotel provides a rather familiar and intimate atmosphere and the design language inside the public areas and the rooms is quite appealing for a budget accommodation that it aims to be.
WiFi is already included in the rate and each room features a spacious bathroom in a pleasing and modern design. Some rooms even feature a small balcony.
The hotel does not feature a fitness room or gym, but if you think you cannot do without a workout, just contact the front desk. They might have an idea of a gym offering day passes!
We simply loved the central location! Restaurants, shopping and sights are in walking distance. And if you want to hit the greater Barcelona area, there is a metro station just around the corner (Line 3, Drassanes).
If I were to criticize one thing, it would be the clairaudience. Particularly on the weekends, the narrow and winding back and side streets are full of young party crowds that may keep you up until early dawn.
So it would be an excellent idea to pack ear plugs! Apart from that, we would definitely consider to stay at this hotel again. A great choice for staying pre-cruise for those of you, who prefer to organize their transport to the ship by themselves and who would not like to compromise between price and location.
