Los Angeles | Captain Kidd´s Fish Market

When my friend Andi and I returned from our trip to the wonderful RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, we were hungry like wolves. But I was more in the mood for a light and healthy protein snack rather than that typical steak dinner. So Andreas had the perfect idea.

Just a few minutes by car from the hotel, Captain Kidd´s in Redondo Beach is a wonderful mixture of a fresh seafood marketplace and made to order casual dining restaurant with both inside and al fresco seating.

All fishes and seafood which are sold right from the counter can be enjoyed just the way you like them on authentic wooden benches. So your protein lands literally after being fished right on your plate, as a whole, as filet or as skewer. Just as you prefer.

The atmosphere is very casual and reminds me of a typical fishermen´s bar. Orders are placed at the large counter and are being called from the open grill station by number. I can highly recommend the Alaskan cod with Grilled Vegetables as an entrée and the Smoked Fish Appetizer as a starter with lemon and cocktail sauce. An ice-cold beer makes the perfect finish and when the Californian sun slowly sets on the horizon while you enjoy your delicious seafood, the day could have not ended more perfectly than right here.
