As if the entrance to the most beautiful Chicago Athletic Association Hotel wasn´t hidden already pretty well enough, its best kept secret, the rooftop bar and restaurant Cindy´s, sure is for the majority of people rushing by this lunch and dinner hotspot.
Located prominently on South Michigan Avenue, Cindy´s does not only offer cosy and light-filled interiors with industrial style brick walls and high elevated ceilings, it also comes with one of the city´s most breathtaking views over Millennium Park, the Art Institute and Lake Michigan. The outside terrace is accessible throughout the year and offers additional seating as well as charcoal fire places to warm up while sipping on world-class cocktails.
If you like spontaneous lunches, the best time to show up is between 11 am and Noon on weekdays. For every other time, reservations are HIGHLY recommended, especially for the Sunday brunch or during the evenings!
The menu is quite comprehensible and features a modern American cuisine with a twist. You´ll find fresh and made-to-order delicacies such as Avocado Toast, Tuna Crudo or Fried Green Tomatoes as starters.
Try the Reanimator as a Mocktail. This sweet power juice made of blueberries, ginger, demerara, lime and activated charcoal will boost your energy level in a second!
I was looking only for a little bite when hitting Cindy´s. The Prime Steak Tartine was the perfect choice for a juicy piece of fine meat served on a crispy grilled baguette. It comes with pickled poblano mayonnaise and chimichurri, mizuna, radish and crunchy fries. Yummy!
If you´re only in the mood for a decent chill out with yourself or your friends, the comfortable living room armchairs and sofas invite for quality time and a quality view.
I can only imagine how cool this spot must be during summer, right? Enjoy it, peeps. And remember, I´d be more than glad to hear about your experiences there. Safe travels! And cheers 🙂
